Have you ever noticed the similarity between houndstooth and digital camouflage? Phillip Lim made the connection... For his Fall/Winter 2012 men’s runway collection, the designer took the likeness of these patterns even further, mixing and matching different scales of the traditional houndstooth to create his own unique camouflage. The items using this “camo” were some of the key pieces of the collection, adding unique visual disruption on the runway in dark shades of midnight blue, grey and black. The rebellious youth vibe was in full effect at the show, but the models were dressed in a refined manor and walked with a fearless attitude.

This collection, “White Noise,” gives the mixture of elegant tailoring and street inspired sportswear a new breath, highlighting the designer’s subcultural influence and extraordinary talent of proportion in a current and relevant way. The silhouettes are polished and clean, but boxy shapes and unbalanced layering emphasize the unique volume of the garments. Wool, knit and shearling add rich and cozy textures, uplifting the collection in a strong contrast to the underground and outsiders vibe. There are many pieces that are reversible or can be worn 2-ways or even 3-ways, giving the garments the ability to have a fresh look every time you put them on, if desired.
