Aloha Rag Debuts House Label

One of the most famous resort destinations in the world, Hawaii, is not often associated with high fashion. In this land of perpetual summer, Aloha Rag's owner, Tatsugo Yoda started his fashion boutique business with an avant-garde collection of designer brands. Yoda has worked and been identified as a talented buyer for twenty-five years.

He introduced Aloha Rag to the US mainland market by opening Aloha Rag New York in 2008. Then finally, he debuted his own collection with this pre-autumn/winter 2010 selection.

After expanding his business from Hawaii to New York and on the web, Yoda called it a “happy accident” that led to the creation of his inaugural collection. The Aloha Rag staff is grateful that we could make this happy and significant accident happen along with Yoda.


Inspired by American basics and military styles, which he usually loves to wear himself, Yoda focused on keeping the collection casual while incorporating a modern edge. He is confident that this collection will suit any generation and style, as vintage clothes did when Yoda started his fashion career. All the efforts with sampling and deciding on each detail, such as fabrics, buttons, and even thread colors, helped him build his ideal silhouettes. Yoda is passionate about each of the pieces in Aloha Rag's debut collection and hopes that passion is transmitted to Aloha Rag's customers.
