M/MARANI
Alberto Marani was born in the coastal town of San Remo, Italy in 1974. His initial training was in architecture, so it's not surprising that Le Corbusier, Marcel Breuer, Fontana and Philip Lorca di Corcia influenced his life and constitute today as much as yesterday his principle sources of inspiration. His father, a friend of Le Corbusier, transmitted to Alberto the taste for strong lines, structure and purity. Alberto kept these traits when he finally decided that his career would be in fashion. Alberto moved to Paris in 1993, to study at the Chambre Syndicale De La Couture. Shortly after his arrival in Paris, Alberto went on to work alongside Gianfranco Ferre during his tenure as Creative Director of Christian Dior Haute Couture and Ready-to-Wear. After four years at Dior, Alberto decided to launch a small knitwear collection. Seemingly overnight, these few pieces were greeted with a great success and soon found themselves in some of the most beautiful boutiques in Europe. Today, what began as a little knitwear collection has developed into a line with over 50 items, both tailored and knit, each season. The materials are fine and luxurious. The fabrication- completely Italian- is done in small quantities by the highest-level technicians who finish each garment entirely by hand.
