| | Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1962, Nobuhiko Kitamura initially acquired a degree in fashion in his early twenties, venturing into Japan's competitive recruitment market in order to pursue his highly original interests. Finding it difficult to establish himself within the arena of the already developed high fashion industries, he began working for Ozon Community Corporation in 1984. Soon thereafter, having shown his informed and provocative eye for design, the company suggested Nobuhiko envision and develop a new unisex brand of his own. Working under the precondition that Nobuhiko would be allowed to direct the project entirely in his own supervision, he went on to create Hysteric Glamour, becoming Chief Designer of the brand. The Design concept derives from an informative survey of the American pop and music milieu between the 1960's and 1970's. Nobuhiko combines his childhood impressions of American mass-market media, within the contemporary context of Japanese culture, in order to develop an array of clothing that appropriates imagery familiar to an entire world of consumers. |
